Zane Trace Pete Dunkle Scholarship Fund

The Zane Trace Pete Dunkle Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the legacy of a true ZT Pioneer. Mr. Pete Dunkle started his teaching and coaching career at Paint Valley, moved to Finley, OH to Arlington High School and then found his home at Zane Trace Local School District. Pete was a high school principal and then superintendent where he finished his 23 years at Zane Trace, retiring in 1996. Pete continued his service to the ZT community as a full-time volunteer in the booster club, working countless bingo nights and operating the ZT PTO sausage booth at the Ross Co. Fair and Easy Rider Rodeo for more than three decades.

His unwavering loyalty and generosity to the Zane Trace community positively and profoundly impacted generations of Pioneers. The lessons learned from his deeds will carry on through the hard work and dedication of his family, friends, former students, and community as they continue his legacy and create their own. This scholarship is to honor Pete’s tenacious spirit and all of the good that it brought to Pioneer Nation and everyone who crossed his path. “We live in deeds, not years.”
