Scholarships Available for Southeastern Local School District Graduates

The Kelly Downs Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Kelly’s family and friends to leave a lasting legacy in her name. Annually, as funds are available, a $500 scholarship will be awarded to a qualified senior student graduating from Southeastern High School.

Guidelines for Application

1. Nominee must be a graduating senior of Southeastern High School.
2. Nominee must have not less than a 2.5 Grade Point Average (2.5 GPA on a 4.0 grading scale).
3. Nominee must complete an application.
4. Nominee must complete an educational budget as financial need will be a consideration.
5. Nominee must provide a self-expression synopsis (250 words or more) describing their educational goals and career plans.
6. Nominee must provide two recommendations from teachers, coaches, advisors or other community leaders.
7. Nominee must provide an information sheet that should include activities in which the nominee has engaged in during high school years (class officer, music organizations, athletics, publications, etc.) and organized out-of-school activities (4-H Club, scouting, church organizations, etc.).
8. Nominee must provide a list of awards and honors received.
9. Nominee shall provide official High School transcripts.
10. The funds may be used at any accredited college or trade school.
11. The funds may be used for books, tuition or room and board. Checks will be written directly to the college or trade school or approved entity. Any unused portion will be returned to the Fund.
