William (Bill) Herrnstein

William (Bill) Herrnstein is recently retired as the 3rd generation owner/operator of Herrnstein Chrysler and Herrnstein Hyundai, Inc. Having transferred his majority ownership share to his son, Bart, he maintains his business relationship by serving as chairman of the four dealerships that comprise today’s Herrnstein Auto Group.

Currently, Bill serves on the board of the Scioto Society, Inc., which runs the highly successful outdoor drama Tecumseh, embarking upon its 49th season next Spring. Along with his wife, Linda, he co-founded the Zane Trace Soccer Association and successfully transferred control of their club team to the Zane Trace public school system. He was an 8-year member of the Chillicothe-Ross Chamber of Commerce that culminated in back-to-back terms as Chairman of the Board. He was a founding board member of the Adena Mansion & Gardens Society which was awarded management control of the historic site when the Ohio Historical Society transferred its managerial functions. He has been a Rotarian for 33 years. Bill & his wife are lifelong residents of Ross County, outspoken supporters of Chillicothe’s historic downtown, and recently played key roles in the formation of “Downtown Chillicothe,” an affiliate of the “Main Street” program, whose main functions are the preservation and overall health of the downtown community.

A member of the Chillicothe-Ross Community Foundation for nearly 15 years, Bill serves as Chair of its Grant Committee. He and Linda have become the enthusiastic sponsors of the foundation’s Herrnstein Family Fund, and together they have awarded more than $500,000 in grants since 2013.
